If you’re in this part of Florida and come across a snake, be forewarned: he may persuade you to bite the forbidden fruit.
In the 1970s a local minister and lawyer named Elvy Callaway took to the airwaves to inform the public he had located the original Garden of Eden. His calculations (which were actually extensively researched) concluded the garden is located east of the Apalachicola River just north of Bristol in an area containing some of Torreya State Park. His findings gained public attention and soon signs were erected to point the many soul-searching travelers towards the location.
